The notifications section will help you inform your customers about all the important moments of their interaction with your Shopify store, such as order confirmation or abandoned order page.

When you make a purchase online, what's the first thing you do? If you're like me, you immediately check your email to confirm that the purchase was made by you and that you entered the correct details. The Notifications section will help you send the same emails and keep your customers informed about all the important moments of their interaction with you.

As a Shopify merchant, you have access to mobile-friendly email templates with multiple notification scenarios, from order confirmation to abandoned cart.

Shopify makes it easy and quick to keep your customers informed about their purchases. In this tutorial, we'll set up two of the most important notification templates: the completed order notification and the unfinished order notification.

The completed order email is sent to the customer automatically after they place an order. The pending order email is sent to the customer when they leave the checkout without placing an order. Let's set them up together.

In your admin panel, under the “Settings” section, click “Notifications”. Here you will see all the templates sent to your clients in different situations. One time-saving tip: you can change the color of the buttons and add your logo to all the templates at once. Let’s do that now.

Under "Customers notifications" click "Customize" and add a logo. Now let's change the button color. Click "Save". Now you've applied the changes to all your email notification templates.

As I mentioned, we're going to customize two really important templates in more detail. First, we're going to customize the order confirmation email template. By default, the templates already contain the information you need. If you don't do anything to it, your customer will still have a great experience with your business.

If you are familiar with coding, you can even change the design of the templates. But as I said, this is not necessary at the initial stage. The templates provided by Shopify are time-tested. Don't forget to click "Save".

Now let's edit the abandoned order email text. I'll review it first. The main goal of your abandoned order email is to get someone to come back and complete their order. Sometimes people get distracted and just need a reminder. Other times, they're hesitant and unsure if they're ready to buy.

The first step to changing someone's mind is to get them to open your email. To do this, make sure your email title is catchy and makes them want to open it. Once I've made the changes, I click "Save."

Repeat this process for any notifications that are currently needed for your business.

In the next tutorial I'll show you how to get to grips with the main settings of your store.

Update the email notifications that are essential to launching your store. At a minimum, we recommend reviewing the order confirmation and pending order notifications.
