On February 24, 2022, at 5:00 a.m., Russia treacherously attacked Ukraine and, with the support of Belarus, is waging an aggressive war, violating many international rules of war and disregarding the lives of civilians in Ukraine.
In response to Russia's barbaric and inhumane actions, many international companies around the world have refused to cooperate with Russian representatives, with the goal of weakening the Russian military machine in order to stop the war.
Shopify, among others, has also stopped supporting all Russian stores, namely, from March 8, 2022, store owners operating in the Russian Federation and Belarus can no longer:
- accept orders from your customers;
- extend the lease of your store.
At the same time, Shopify is trying its best to support the residents of Ukraine:
- In partnership with Flexport, Shopify has donated funds to provide humanitarian aid to Ukrainian refugees.
- For Ukrainian stores, commission on payments is waived.
Shopify intends to monitor developments in Ukraine and respond to the challenges facing the civilized world. As noted in the company's press release, Shopify hopes for a quick end to this tragic situation and the return of peace to Ukraine.
